Parent/Fan Expectations
Parent/Fan Expectations
Quick Styx Lacrosse is a volunteer-run, parent-supported organization. As representatives of our club, parents and spectators play an important role in shaping the environment in which our athletes learn and compete. Your conduct on the sidelines reflects not only on your player, but on the entire Quick Styx community.
We truly believe Quick Styx parents and fans are some of the best in Washington, but unfortunately the league has asked all the teams to emphasize fan conduct this year, specifically around refs.
Apart from 14U games, most officials are youth referees, teenagers who are learning, developing, and giving back to the sport. Comments directed at referees will not be tolerated. If you have a safety concern, please bring it to a coach or the sideline manager, or contact the Board President, Winn Cody.
To maintain a positive, respectful, and sportsmanlike atmosphere, all parents and spectators are expected to:
- Treat all players, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators, on both teams, with respect and courtesy.
- Support athletes in a positive manner and refrain from negative, distracting, or unsportsmanlike behavior:
- Respect the authority and decisions of game officials.
- Help foster an environment in which players can learn, take risks, and enjoy the game.
- Do not coach from the sidelines. Cheering is encouraged, but instructing players—such as telling them when to pass or shoot—is not permitted. Please keep comments positive and “retroactive,” such as “Nice shot!” or “Great ground ball!”
Pacific Northwest lacrosse is a close-knit community, and our club’s reputation is shaped by how we conduct ourselves at every game and practice. Quick Styx families are expected to uphold the standards of sportsmanship and respect that reflect the values of our organization.
Failure to adhere to this policy may result in a warning, removal from the sideline, or further action as determined by club leadership or governing league officials.
